This training course aims to increase awareness and understanding of the mechanics and working methods of multilateral conferences and diplomacy, and impart knowledge and skills to enhance the capacity of delegates to prepare for, and perform effectively in, such conferences. While the course focuses on conferences organized in the United Nations system, much of the information conveyed also applies to multilateral conferences organized in other institutional or organizational settings.
At the end of the course, participants will be familiar with multilateral conferences and know how to become part of the process and perform effectively as delegates.
This course targets a wide audience, including :
diplomats beginning their careers in diplomacy ;
mid-career diplomats who have been recently assigned to a multilateral posting ;
mid-to senior-level government officers in line ministries who regularly prepare for or participate in multilateral conferences and negotiations ;
staff of nongovernmental organizations active in multilateral conferences.
The course is offered free-of-charge to government officials from developing countries (according to the World Bank’s list of developing, please click link below to access the list).
For participants from developed countries and staff of international organizations, course fees amount to $US 400.00.
