Après les footballeurs Ronaldo (Brésil) et Zinedine Zidane (France), l’attaquant international ivoirien de Chelsea, Didier Drogba, agée de 28 ans, est nommé ambassadeur itinérant du Programme des Nations unies pour le développement (PNUD - ONU).
Prime Minister Abe held a meeting with Mr. Armando Emilio Guebuza, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence.
At the beginning, Prime Minister Abe said, "This month marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Mozambique.
I am greatly pleased to be able to welcome President Guebuza during this memorable year. I am convinced that our bilateral relations will be even further strengthened on the occasion of the President’s visit." The two leaders then discussed issues including Japan’s assistance to Mozambique for projects such as regional road and bridge development and anti-malaria measures, and the Africa policies that Japan is emphasizing through such channels as the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).
In addition, President Guebuza said, "I support realization of the reform of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and Japan’s bid to become a permanent member of the Security Council, and I want to cooperate as much as possible toward the resolution of the North Korean nuclear and abduction issues."
ollowing the meeting, the leaders attended a ceremony for the Signing and Exchange of Notes for Grant Aid for Mozambique’s Project for Road and Bridge Construction in Zambezia and Tete Provinces and Project for Anti-Malaria Measures. Afterwards, Prime Minister and Mrs. Abe hosted a dinner for President and Mrs. Guebuza.
