Après les footballeurs Ronaldo (Brésil) et Zinedine Zidane (France), l’attaquant international ivoirien de Chelsea, Didier Drogba, agée de 28 ans, est nommé ambassadeur itinérant du Programme des Nations unies pour le développement (PNUD - ONU).
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with Mr. Bethuel Pakalitha Mosisili, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence.
At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Abe said, "I welcome the opening of the Embassy of Lesotho in Japan earlier this year. I am confident that this establishment of the embassy will make a substantial contribution to strengthening our bilateral relations." Prime Minister Mosisili responded, "The opening of the embassy symbolizes our friendly bilateral relations," and expressed his gratitude for Japan’s economic assistance centered on the area of human resource development, including the assistance for construction of elementary school buildings.
At the meeting, the two leaders discussed the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV), which is scheduled to be held next year in Japan. Their discussion also covered global warming countermeasures as presented in Japan’s proposal entitled "Cool Earth 50," as well as Japan’s bid for permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council and the North Korean abduction issue.
